Bilt Rewards solves a problem renters have had for years: earning rewards on rent. The Bilt Mastercard pays 1x points on rent with no annual fee and no processing fee — and those points transfer 1:1 to United, Hyatt, American Airlines, and 12+ other partners. For renters who also travel, it is one of the most valuable no-fee cards available.

How Rent Earning Works

  1. Set up your landlord in the Bilt app (or pay via Bilt’s ACH transfer)
  2. Pay rent through Bilt on or before the due date
  3. Earn 1x points — Bilt covers the processing fee with no cost to you
  4. Points post within a few days

Example: $2,000/month rent = 24,000 Bilt points per year from rent alone. At 1.5 cents per point transferred to United, that is $360 in flight value from an expense you were already paying.

Transfer Partners (All at 1:1)

Partner Type Best Use
World of Hyatt Hotel Luxury hotel redemptions (2–5¢/pt)
United MileagePlus Airline Star Alliance flights
Air France/KLM Flying Blue Airline Monthly promo awards
American Airlines AAdvantage Airline Oneworld partner redemptions
British Airways Avios Airline Short-haul partner flights
Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan Airline West Coast redemptions
Emirates Skywards Airline Emirates premium cabin
Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles Airline Star Alliance business class

Bilt points should almost always be transferred to a partner — cash back redemption is only 0.55 cents per point, far below the 1.3–2+ cents available through airlines and hotels.

Rent Day — Double Earning

On the 1st of every month (Rent Day), earning rates double:

  • 6x on dining (vs. 3x normally)
  • 4x on travel (vs. 2x)
  • 2x on rent (vs. 1x)

Front-load restaurant meals and any travel purchases to the 1st to maximize earning.

The 5-Transaction Minimum

You must make at least 5 purchases in a billing cycle for rent points to post. Each qualifying purchase (any amount) counts. If you miss 5 transactions in a month, you still earn points on non-rent purchases — just not on rent. Set reminders for the end of the month if you typically use another card.
