Chime’s external ACH transfer limit is $10,000 per day and $25,000 per month. Pay Anyone (Chime’s peer-to-peer feature) is capped at $1,000/day. Chime does not support Zelle or wire transfers. Instant transfers to an eligible debit card are available for 1.5% (minimum $0.25).

External ACH Transfers

To move money between Chime and an external bank account (Chase, BofA, etc.):

  1. Link an external account in Chime app → Move MoneyTransfersAdd external account
  2. Verify with 2 micro-deposits (1–3 business days) or instant verification via bank login
  3. Once linked, initiate transfers up to $10,000/day, $25,000/month
  4. Standard ACH takes 1–3 business days each direction

Linked accounts can push or pull — you can initiate transfers from either the Chime app or the external bank.

Pay Anyone: Chime’s P2P Transfer Feature

Pay Anyone is Chime’s alternative to Zelle, built directly into the app.

Recipient Speed Limit Fee
Other Chime member Instant $1,000/day $0
Non-member (via link) Link available 14 days $1,000/day $0

Non-member transfers: You send a payment link via text or email. The recipient claims the funds via the link within 14 days, depositing to any US bank account. If unclaimed after 14 days, the money returns to your Chime account.

Limitation: Pay Anyone’s $1,000/day limit is significantly lower than Zelle at traditional banks ($2,500–$5,000+/day). For larger P2P needs, ACH transfer is the alternative.

Instant Transfer: Pay a Fee for Speed

Chime Instant Transfer sends funds immediately to an eligible Visa or Mastercard debit card:

Feature Detail
Fee 1.5% (minimum $0.25)
Speed Within minutes
Max per transfer $10,000
Eligible accounts Visa/Mastercard debit cards

Example: You need to send $500 to a friend instantly. Instant Transfer fee = $7.50 (1.5%). Standard ACH to their linked bank is free but takes 1–2 days.

No Zelle Support

Chime does not participate in the Zelle network. This is a notable limitation compared to traditional banks and some neobanks. Alternatives:

Need Alternative
Send to another Chime member Pay Anyone (instant, free, $1,000/day)
Send to a non-Chime user Pay Anyone link (free, 14-day claim window)
Send faster with a fee Instant Transfer (1.5%, immediate)
Receive Zelle from someone Ask sender to use your linked bank account that does support Zelle

No Wire Transfers

Chime does not support wire transfers in either direction. This affects:

  • Real estate closings requiring a wire
  • Business payments requiring same-day clearing
  • Large transfers over $25,000/month (which hit the ACH monthly cap)

Workaround: Maintain a secondary account at a traditional bank (free accounts at Ally, Capital One, or Discover work well) for wire receipt, then ACH the funds to Chime afterward.

Chime vs Other Neobank Transfer Limits

Bank External ACH Daily P2P Daily Zelle Wires
Chime $10,000 $1,000
Ally $150,000 ✅ $5,000
Discover $10,000 ✅ $500
SoFi $50,000 ✅ $500
Varo $2,000

Chime’s ACH limit ($10,000/day) is competitive with Discover but far below Ally ($150,000/day) and SoFi ($50,000/day). The lack of Zelle is Chime’s biggest transfer limitation vs. traditional banks.
